Trooping the Colour best bits in pictures, from Princess Kate to Prince Louis' antics

The Royal Family put on its best display to mark King Charles's official birthday with a Trooping the Colour celebration that marked the return of Princess Kate.

Princess Kate made a triumphant return to public life in the midst of her cancer battle and joined the Royal Family to celebrate King Charles's official birthday at Trooping the Colour.

Kate and her three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, were cheered by crowds in The Mall as they left Buckingham Palace in a carriage procession for one of the highlights of the royal calendar.

She was surrounded by fellow members of the Royal Family, including her husband Prince William, Colonel of the Welsh Guards, on horseback, Princess Anne, Colonel of the Blues and Royals and the Duke of Edinburgh, Colonel of the Scots Guards.

King Charles rode in a carriage with Queen Camilla in a departure from last year prompted of his own illness. He inspected the officers and guardsmen on Horse Guards Parade in Whitehall from the coach rather than from a horse.

Here Express.co.uk shares some of the highlights from this year's Trooping the Colour, bringing you all the pomp and pageantry from the day's celebration.
