Zara and Mike Tindall managed to stay successfully under the radar as they took their two eldest children Mia and Lena to see Taylor Swift play the first night of her tour in London.

Prince William and his children Prince George and Princess Charlotte were there to join the fun as the Royal Family celebrated the future King's 42nd birthday.

William is known to be close to his cousin Zara, as she and her husband were accompanied by their friend Natalie Pinkham with the whole family dressed in Taylor-appropriate outfits.

In a picture uploaded to Instagram Zara is seen wearing a sparkling sequinned top complete with denim cut-offs, while Mike sported a T-shirt quoting the pop star's lyric 'You Need To Calm Down'.

In another photo, Mike is seen cuddling his youngest daughter Lena, who is also dressed in a Taylor tour shirt with one of her arms adorned with friendship bracelets.

Fans on Instagram were quick to gush over the pictures, with one writing: "Omg, Mike's shirt [laughing crying emoji] and luv Zara's top [heart eyes emoji]", while another added: "Oh Natalie. I genuinely smiled at the photos. Friendship at its best."

Mike Tindall in particular was feeling the love as one person commented: "Everyone needs a @mike_tindall12 in their life!" and another said: "I love Mike's shirt!!"

However one royal source noted that not everything went to plan on the night, as the Wales family's meet and greet with the pop star almost did not happen.

A royal insider told HELLO! magazine: "They had a nightmare getting in, they were running really late but they had planned to get there earlier so they could have the meet and greet with Taylor beforehand because they knew they wanted to leave early [to avoid the crowds].

"They only had 25 minutes to spare so had a quick meet and greet and then went up to their box before the show, and there was a bit of stress and panic about that because it was taking too long.

They added that the trip was mostly for the children, despite it falling on William's birthday: "Most of the time he and the kids were further back so they didn't draw too much attention, but there were moments where they were at the front so a lot of swapping was happening."

William and his daughter Charlotte shared a special bonding moment together as they appeared to sing along to one of Taylor's biggest hits.

The insider said: "There was one sweet moment where William and Charlotte were sat next to each other at the front and you could tell they were having a little sing-song together which was cute."

They added: "They left around ten minutes before the end to miss the crowds. It was buzzing in their box, everyone was having such a brilliant time for Prince William's birthday!"
