Meghan Markle urged Prince Harry to pick up heartbreaking call from royals
The Duke of Sussex nearly missed an important message from his estranged royal family until his wife convinced him to accept the call.
Prince Harry was reportedly encouraged by his wife Meghan Markle to pick up an important phone call from his estranged royal family, according to Omid Scobie’s explosive book Endgame.
In the revealing book, which dropped multiple bombshells and insights into the complicated relationship between the Sussexes and the Firm, Scobie detailed an incident that happened around the time the late Queen’s health was declining.
"The Sussexes had no idea that Buckingham Palace was already planning for the Queen's final hours and the first days of the monarchy's new era - until the duke's phone started ringing”, the biographer wrote.
“An unknown number. He usually ignored those."
According to Scobie, it was Meghan who urged Prince Harry to answer the call, which turned out to be none other than King Charles alerting his son of Queen Elizabeth’s situation.
Despite lingering bad feelings between the two, King Charles told his son that they were en route to Balmoral castle, where Princess Anne was already by the Queen's side.
He urged Prince Harry to meet them there as soon as he could. However, he was reportedly asked not to bring his wife Meghan Markle along.
According to Prince Harry, King Charles told him not to bring Meghan because it "didn't make any sense", to which the Duke of Sussex got frustrated.
"Regretful, [King Charles] stammered that he simply didn't want it to fill up with people. Nobody's wife was going, not even Kate, he told me, so Meg shouldn't either", Harry wrote in his memoir, Spare.
