Meghan Markle has been urged to stay away from politics as, according to one royal expert, she will be "eaten alive".

The Duchess of Sussex, who returned from a four-day visit to Colombia with Prince Harry earlier this month, has long been rumoured to be keen on branching out into the political field.

Speaking on The Sun's Royal Exclusive Show, royal expert Robert Jobson said that he believes Meghan would not be cut out for politics and that she should steer away from that venture.

Discussing the hypothetical situation for the 43-year-old, the expert said: "I think if she got involved in American politics with the title of the Duchess of Sussex she would be eaten alive.

"She might think she's got what it takes to make it but the Democrats would run a mile."

The expert, who deemed Meghan as not having what it takes to be a "serious politician", added: "I just think it's a dirty game and if she thinks she's been badly treated by the British press, it will be an awful lot worse if you enter the world of politics in America."

Despite the frequent claims about Meghan, it is believed that the former actress has no desire to move into the political field.

According to representatives for Meghan, the mother-of-two has "no interest" in politics and no ambition to branch out into that area.

Discussing the Duke and Duchess of Sussex as a couple, and their recent tour in Colombia, Mr Robson said that the pair are not appearing "particularly authentic".

Speaking of their recent trip, which they took without their children in tow, he said: "Just do things that are authentic, and just do things that are real rather then staged with loads of outfit changes.

"I think they need to work out what they want to do. They don't come across as particularly authentic."

The expert added: "I think they could just do some real work in America maybe and people will start to believe you."
