An expert has stated that Lady Louise Windsor may not become a working royal like her mother Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh, but could instead carve out her own career.

The 20-year-old is currently studying at the University of St Andrews in Scotland, much like the Prince and Princess of Wales did in the early 2000s.

Despite Lady Louise being the niece of King Charles III, PR expert Lynn Carratt believes the daughter of the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh is more likely to find a job after university rather than joining the group of working royals supporting the Crown.

She told GB News: “Lady Louise is currently studying at St Andrews University, where she can enjoy her privacy away from the public eye, much like her cousin William did at the same University."

Providing two possible reasons why Lady Louise may get a career of her own outside the royal fold, the expert added: “Her parents have emphasised the importance of understanding the need to work for a living, so it's unlikely that she will become a full-time working royal after completing her education and especially in a time of calls to slim down the monarchy."

The PR expert likely referred to an interview with the Sunday Times given by Duchess Sophie, in which she said: "We try to bring them up with the understanding they are very likely to have to work for a living."

Years before he acceded to the throne, King Charles was reported to be planning a slimmed-down monarchy, including only his sons and their families.

Duchess Sophie had a career in PR but gave it up to become a working royal. Her career included working for four years at Capital Radio as well as public relations companies The Quentin Bell Organisation and MacLaurin Communications and Media.

She also worked as a ski representative in Switzerland and spent a year travelling and working in Australia.

Duchess Sophie also ran her own PR agency, PJH Public Relations which she launched in 1996 and worked at for five years.

Prince Edward and Duchess Sophie became full-time working royals in 2002.
