Queen gives stamp of approval to postal images of Buckingham Palace
IF you ever fancied a nose around Buckingham Palace then stamp these images on your memory.
The Royal Mail is releasing a set of 10 scenes of the Queen’s main home by artist Chris Draper.
They include six watercolours showing the exterior of the official London residence of the sovereign since 1837.
Buckingham Palace is a source of pride to the nation
There is also a miniature sheet of four stamps depicting ornate locations inside the 775-room palace – the Throne Room, the Blue Drawing Room, the Grand Staircase and the Green Drawing Room.
The Queen clearly doesn’t mind millions getting a peek of her home as every new stamp design is sent to the Palace for approval.
Royal Mail spokesman Andrew Hammond said: “Buckingham Palace is a source of pride to the nation. It forms a huge part of our heritage so it is fitting that Royal Mail has been able to dedicate a stamp to the most famous of addresses.”
The royal-themed stamps cost the same as regular first, second or third class stamps.
