Mouse or mould? Lidl customer ‘UNCONTROLLABLE VOMITING’ after finding THIS in rice
A LIDL customer’s wife was left “uncontrollably vomiting” after discovering what appeared to be a dead mouse in a packet of rice. Richard Leech thought he has discovered the suspected rodent after cooking a bag of rice in the microwave last night, with the stench making his wife vomit.
Mr Leech bought the packet of Golden Sun pilau rice which is manufactured by budget supermarket chain Lidl.
In a tweet which went viral Mr Leech shared the shocking images.
He said: “Hi @LidlUK I wonder if you could let me know how this mouse got into my packet of rice? Now my house stinks of cooked mouse and my wife is uncontrollably vomiting.”
Social media went into a frenzy with many finding the humorous side.

A tweet said: “At least it was only a Lidl mouse it could have been a big mouse.”
However Lidl later said they believed the mouse-like object was actually mould.
A Lidl spokesman told the Express.co.uk: “It is never our intention for a customer to be dissatisfied in any way, and we were extremely sorry to see that this particular product did not meet the high standards that both we and our customers expect.”
It is believed a “small hole” in the packet may have caused the incident to occur.
Through their initial investigation with the supplier, were able to identify the foreign substance as mould
Lidl added: “Following contact with the customer, the matter was immediately escalated to our quality assurance team who, through their initial investigation with the supplier, were able to identify the foreign substance as mould. Whilst very rare, this can occur as a result of an extremely small hole in the pack.
“We only ever work with reputable accredited suppliers who have extensive controls and procedures in place to verify the quality of products.
“We are, therefore, very disappointed that our expected high standards were not met on this occasion, and are in ongoing contact with the customer on the matter.”
