Boy, 15, knifed at Notting Hill Carnival
NOTTING Hill Carnival was marred late last night when a running battle broke out between police and groups of youths.
At least one was seen lying on the floor with blood gushing from a head wound.
Earlier a 15-year-old boy was taken to hospital after being knifed near the centre of the carnival route in west London.
A Met spokesman said: “At 19.20pm police were called to Monmouth Road where a 15-year-old was recovered with stab wounds.
“He was taken to a central London hospital where his condition is described as serious.”
A London Ambulance Service spokesman said: “We treated a 15-year-old boy for assault and have taken a patient to hospital.”
Up until that point it appeared this year’s Carnival would pass off without incident.
Hundreds of thousands of revellers thronged the streets, dancing, drinking and eating in temperatures of up to 79F (26C).
