Only 1 in 8 has ideal career
ONLY one in eight Britons has achieved the goal of doing the job they dreamt of as a child.
While many youngsters aspire to becoming a footballer or teacher, researchers found that in later life one in five just hope to land more mundane jobs with the Civil Service or a charity.
Around seven in 10 adults in work had different career goals when they were young. Half admitted their original goals did not seem realistic now they had grown-up – and half would consider gaining a new qualification to achieve career dreams, the Careers Advice Service discovered.
The top five dream jobs for boys are: Footballer, entrepreneur/ businessman, pop star, pilot and doctor. For girls they are: Teacher, doctor, vet, pop star and businesswoman.
