Teen pair ‘in soccer deathplot'
A TEENAGER alleged to have plotted a copycat Columbine High School massacre planned to attack a football stadium as part of a plan to kill “worthless humans”, a court heard yesterday.
Matthew Swift, 18, was fascinated by the 1999 US killings in which 12 pupils and a teacher were killed, Manchester Crown Court was told.
In an online message on MSN it was claimed Swift told fellow accused 16-year-old Ross McKnight: “I was thinking of targets to attack like the Manchester City stadium – that would be good.”
They also allegedly talked about other targets, including an Ikea store, and about packing a van with explosives to extend their scheme.
The court heard they had already planned to carry out a killing spree at 1,200-pupil Audenshaw High School, Manchester, which they attended.
Both deny conspiracy to murder and conspiracy to cause explosions.
The trial continues.
