My lightbulbs will last me a lifetime
RETIRED teacher Valerie Hemsley-Flint took a dim view when EU chiefs banned traditional light bulbs – so she bought enough to last a lifetime.
Light from eco-friendly alternatives isn’t good enough for her to read and the flickering sets off her epilepsy.
She spent £500 on 1,100 100-watt bulbs before their import and production was banned at the start of the month. Miss Hemsley-Flint, 62, of Sittingbourne, Kent said: “It has cost a small fortune, but for me it’s worth it and will see me through to the grave.”
Energy-saving bulbs have been linked to various light-sensitive medical conditions like migraine, epilepsy, skin problems and lupus.
