Tutu backing on Megrahi
ARCHBISHOP Desmond Tutu has backed the Scottish Government over the release of the Lockerbie bomber on compassionate grounds.
He said Justice secretary Kenny MacAskill’s decision to allow Abdelbaset al Megrahi to return home to die in Libya should be “commended”.
In a message to the Scottish Government, the Archbishop says: “One understands the anguish of the families and friends of the victims, but they honour their memory more by being compassionate rather than retributive.”
