Women addicted to shops
TEN million British women are addicted to shopping – even though they can’t afford it, a survey shows.
Even if it is just buying daily bread and milk, six out of 10 women say shopping gives them a buzz.
The poll of 5,347 women revealed that every week, the average shopaholic will spend money they haven’t got on fast food, chocolate, beauty products, shampoo and make up.
More than half admitted it did not matter what they bought, as long as they bought something. Four in 10 said they tried not to visit the high street when the sales were on as they were unable to resist a bargain.
Joanna Leah, general manager at Ipswich Building Society, which conducted the poll, said: “It’s worrying that four in 10 admit they often spend beyond their means.”
