Housing boss £400k pay shock
TEN social housing bosses earned more than Gordon Brown did last year, research has shown.
Dozens of others were paid more than £100,000 while some were given recession-busting pay rises of up to 27 per cent.
The study, by Inside Housing magazine, revealed that the country’s best-paid housing chief executive was John Belcher of the Anchor Housing Association.
He earned £427,000 last year, 20 per cent more than in 2007.
The Prime Minister was paid £197,689.
Conservative Shadow Housing Minister Grant Shapps said: “This will shock families facing housing misery.
“These social housing bosses will want to ask themselves whether this pay is justified.”
But a spokeswoman for the Homes and Communities Agency said: “Housing associations are complex and competitive salaries need to be offered to attract the right people.”
