Harry's boss quits in row
PRINCE Harry’s former army commander in Afghanistan has quit amid claims of frustration with kit shortages.
Major General Andrew Mackay, 52, only recently promoted to General Officer Commanding Scotland, Northern Ireland and SDHp northern England, quit for “personal reasons”, said the Ministry of Defence. But friends say he was unhappy with troop and helicopter shortages in Afghanistan.
He is the most senior in a growing line of officers to quit over conduct of the war.
Shadow Defence Secretary Liam Fox said: “His anger is the tip of the iceberg. People cannot trust Labour to give our troops all they need.”
