Crisis call for ITV boss
LEADING ITV shareholders are pressing for a chief executive to be appointed immediately after the debt-ridden broadcaster was left rudderless.
They want director of television Peter Fincham or another internal candidate to take over after chairman Michael Grade walked out and ITV lost incoming boss Tony Ball.
Its City investors are unhappy at the power vacuum while ITV struggles to cope with plunging revenues and audience numbers and more than £700million of debt.
Having spent five months looking for a new chief executive, investors want a quick appointment to steady the ship. One of its biggest investors said: “It is one of the toughest jobs in the world. What we have here is a case of managing decline.”
