Slick turns the blue sea brown
THIS may resemble a work of modern art – but it’s a boat sailing through the Gulf of Mexico oil slick as it turns the vivid blue sea shades of brown.
About 200,000 gallons of oil have been gushing from a BP seabed well since a rig explosion on April 20.

The 2,000 sq mile slick, possibly the US’s worst environmental disaster, is threatening wildlife from Louisiana to Florida. BP plans to lower a 98-ton box over the leaks, to funnel oil up to a tanker. But the move has never been tried in deep water and may fail.
