BA strike boss is off on holiday
THE union boss behind the BA cabin crew strike flew to a luxury holiday in Cyprus with easyJet while his members ruined flights for other travellers.
While Tony Woodley jetted off from Manchester on Saturday 10,000 BA customers had to rearrange their holidays.
The £122,000-a-year joint general secretary of Unite is believed to be taking a week’s break at an exclusive villa near Paphos with wife Janet.
It was hoped he would be taking part in the latest peace talks with BA boss Willie Walsh.
But the union leader, 62, left Unite’s other head, Derek Simpson, to negotiate. This week’s strike, due to end on Wednesday, is the fifth this year over pay and working conditions.
Unite has raised strike pay from £30 to £45 a day. It’s also considering hardship loans of up to £1,000 for members.
