London's best commuter town named - after years of being rated one of the worst
Slough is ideal for commuting into London, although it is still a work in progress.
A Berkshire town has been named the best place to live for London commutes, despite it previously propping up the charts as one of the worst places to live.
Slough - which was famously mocked in the TV sitcom The Office - has undergone a remarkable transformation.
It’s now an attractive London satellite town, according to a list of the best 100 commutable towns outside Greater London, by The Telegraph and estate agent Savills.
It takes just 20 minutes on the train between Slough and Paddington Station, and it's also now on the Elizabeth Line.
The town is home to some top grammar schools, as well as a well-regarded hospital.

Nevertheless, the town was once fairly uninspiring and is still in the works.
BerkshireLive reported one anonymous review describing it as "the sh*t capital of the UK", with "houses generally unfit for a dog to live in" and that "if the Earth ever requires an enema, Slough is undoubtedly where the tube will be inserted."
This rather colourful picture of Slough brought a smile out of one local who said: "That is brilliant", he laughed.
The 23-year-old was a bit fairer in his own verdict on the town: "It will be nice once the building work is complete. Mind you, I’ve been saying that for the last ten years".

Slough Borough Council certainly hope so. They are hoping their Slough Urban Renewal project pulls through successfully, with the aim of "creating iconic buildings, open spaces and connectivity, enhancing and improving local schools, providing high-quality new homes and leisure facilities".
Those searching for a suitable commuter town might be glad to hear that the project is building "hundreds" of new homes in all shapes and sizes, and even a new ice arena.
Other commuter towns high on the list include Chatham in Kent, Basildon in Essex and St Albans in Hertfordshire.
