Driving menace is spared jail
A MOTORING menace sparked anger yesterday after he was spared jail despite clocking up his 17th conviction for driving while disqualified.
Brian Cooper, 33, was caught just six months into a five-year ban for drink driving.
He went free with a suspended sentence and a warning to be on his “best behaviour” in the future. Cooper, of Colne, Lancs, was handed a 60-day sentence, suspended for 12 months, and ordered to undergo 120 hours unpaid community work.
He was also banned for another five years. Tory MP Andrew Stephenson said: “It’s ridiculous. He should have gone to jail. Courts need to be tough on these people.”
