Millions of Brits warned they could miss their flights as Jet2 reveals major disruption
A major airport and low-cost airline warned passengers to "plan ahead" if they are travelling on this date next week.
A major UK airport and airline have issued an urgent warning to passengers they could miss their flights because of roadworks due to start next week.
Manchester Airport, the UK's third busiest, said travellers should plan ahead with their journey times as large scale construction is due to start on the M56 motorway.
Popular low-cost airline Jet2 joined the hub issuing advice around the works set to commence on junction 5 and 6 of the busy route from June 10.
A statement on the airline's website urged customers to "please allow enough to time to travel to Manchester Airport as all Jet2.com flights are due to operate as scheduled."
It added: “We have been made aware of road works between Junction 5 and 6 of the M56 beginning Monday 10th June expecting to be completed by the end of August 2024.

"There will be closures of the M56, please refer to National Highways for specific dates and times of closures throughout this time frame."
Manchester Airport, which handles around six million passengers a year, said "delays are expected" for the duration of the roadworks.
It said: “Closures will take place between 9pm and 5am, Monday to Friday, and extending to 7am on Saturdays.
“This will include a mix of full overnight closures and slip closures. Signed diversion routes will be in place. Delays are expected, please allow extra time for your journeys.

“Check for any closures or congestion on Traffic England before you travel."
National Highways said it would endeavour to "minimise disruption" to those heading to the airport, and said: "We’ll be working on the eastbound carriageway (towards Manchester Airport) ahead of the summer holidays.
"Additionally, we’ll only work on one side of the motorway at a time and overnight when traffic levels are lower."
