A tiny remote island located in Scotland that is known for its rugged coastline with sheltered coves, caves and cliffs has been branded an “ultimate private getaway”.

The island has gone on the market for bids starting at £500,000, it has been reported.

Mullagrach spans just under 89 acres and is located a 35-minute boat ride from Old Dorney Harbour on the northwest Highland mainland.

Due to weather conditions and access limitations, potential buyers will have restricted opportunities to view the island.

Visitors must wear outdoor clothing and sturdy footwear and be fit enough to travel by boat and climb ladders to reach the island.

Mullagrach has a "low environmental" heather-clad roofed cabin, which selling agent Galbraith said "blends into the landscape".

The cabin's interior includes a kitchen area, a wood-burning stove, and two box beds.

Power is supplied by solar panels, and there is an outside composting toilet. A rainwater collection system is in place, but drinking water is bottled.

18 years ago, the current owners purchased Mullagrach to conserve and enhance the vegetation and wildlife.

The island hosts a variety of seabirds, such as great skuas, kittiwakes, shags, fulmars, and geese.

In addition to the island, Galbraith is also managing the sale of Mullagrach House.

This coastal property, located in the hamlet of Polbain on the Coigach peninsula, is available separately for £395,000.

For both the house and the island, the owners are seeking offers over £895,000.

The Summer Isles and the southern coast of the Coigach peninsula are significant parts of the Wester Ross Marine Protected Area.

The area features sandy beaches and is popular for sea kayaking, diving, sea fishing, and island cruises.

Phiddy Robertson, who is handling the sale at Galbraith, said: "This is an exciting opportunity to acquire not just a lovely coastal home but also an island, offering the ultimate private getaway.

"The island is a haven for wildlife and the owners have created a small cabin, which is well equipped, to enable full enjoyment of the island with minimal impact on the abundant birdlife.

"The setting is absolutely magical and would offer a wonderful opportunity to relax and reconnect with nature."
