25 brilliant pictures of Brits at UK cities' forgotten nightclubs in the 2000s
Retro snaps from the archives reveal raucous scenes from noughties nightlife before dancehalls were filled with smartphones.
It may sound odd to talk about the year 2000 as a time rich with nostalgia and dated fashion, after all it was only, oh... 24 years ago.
Sadly, Britons have seen nightlife disappearing from their cities in the years since. In February, a report claimed that club venues will be all but extinct on our shores by 2030.
Meanwhile new report from the Night Time Industries Association (NTIA) has revealed there have been five club closures each week this year so far.
The report points to a “dramatic decline” in venue numbers, with 67 pulling down the shutters for good between January and April.
But while the 90s is often looked back on more fondly, archive photos from UK nightlife in the noughties offer a mesmerising glimpse into the twilight years of the nation's favourite forgotten clubs.
Klub Kaos was one of Teeside's biggest under-18 nights, with teenagers flocking for a dance and a night out before they were allowed in other clubs.
The night was held at The Warehouse on Middlesbrough's Zetland Road.
These nostalgic pics from the Press Gazette's archives show revellers enjoying a night out at the local favourite in 2007/2008.
Sadly the night, which was one of the biggest in the region, is no more.
