Branagh and Fiennes to be honoured at BIFAs
KENNETH BRANAGH and RALPH FIENNES are to be honoured with prizes at the upcoming British Independent Film Awards.
Schindler's List star Fiennes will be handed the Richard Harris award for outstanding contribution to film by an actor, at a ceremony in London next month (Dec11).
Branagh will pick up the Variety Award, for helping to "focus the international spotlight on the U.K." The honour has previously gone to Sir Michael Caine and Harry Potter writer J.K. Rowling.
Bridesmaids actor Chris O'Dowd will host the prizegiving on 4 December (11).
Movies including Shame, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, and Tyrannosaur will battle it out for the top movie prizes after landing seven nominations each.
