Vincent Tabak stays in custody
THE man accused of killing Joanna Yeates was remanded in custody yesterday as he made no attempt to ask for bail.
Dutch engineer Vincent Tabak arrived at Bristol Crown Court five minutes before the hearing.
Looking drawn and tired, he spoke just twice during the brief hearing after declining the use of an interpreter. Asked if he was Vincent Tabak, he replied: “Yes, that is correct.”
The judge, Mr Justice Colman Treacy, told him he would be remanded until Monday when the court would start to set a timetable for the case

Tabak, 32, nodded and replied: “I understand.” He is accused of killing landscape architect Joanna, 25, his next-door neighbour in Bristol.
Members of his family are expected to travel from their home in The Netherlands for his next court appearance. A family spokesman Paul Vermeij yesterday said that Tabak was “bearing up well”.
