Falling pound to fuel air fare rise
BRITISH holidaymakers were yesterday facing the spectre of higher fares for trips to Europe after the pound fell to a 13-month low against the euro.
At one point the pound was worth 1.10 euros, its lowest for more than a year and 0.6 per cent down. Despite making a slight recovery later in the day, the knock-on effects of a weak pound for families are costlier summer breaks to Europe and higher prices in the eurozone countries.
Tourism chiefs will be hoping the pound rallies against the euro in the coming weeks to help summer travellers.
