Thugs don’t mess with gran gang
MEET the law-and-order team that young tearaways fear – the supergran gang, plus Charlie the alsatian.
Retired nurse Sheila Bevis, 70, recruited nine friends – many pensioners – to join the Street Watch night patrol after thugs smashed in her front door in Bemerton Heath, Salisbury, Wilts.
Instances of anti-social behaviour, illegal parking and graffiti have plunged since they began patrols.
They report vandalism and tip off police. The team also approach “hoodies” for a friendly chat rather than an argument.
Sheila said: “People should be able to live in their homes and walk the street without fear.”
