Corpses upset viewers
SEVEN viewers complained to the BBC after its flagship News at Ten bulletin showed a heap of 30 corpses dumped on a road in drug wars in Mexico without any warning.
Yet a warning was given about images that followed of lions and tigers shot dead by police in America after being released by their keeper.
A BBC News spokeswoman said: “On Wednesday’s BBC News At Ten, as part of a three-minute report on Mexico’s drug-related violence, a long-distance shot of covered bodies was briefly shown but given the editorial context and nature of the image it was deemed within audience expectation.
“On-air warnings are issued before exceptionally strong or disturbing images are shown to manage audience expectations.”
