‘Cut train crowding’ warning
RAIL bosses were ordered yesterday to cut overcrowding after a minister revealed the 10 most crowded train services in Britain.
The worst is the 7.44am from Henley on Thames to London Paddington, which has a “load factor” of 180 per cent – almost twice as many passengers as seats.
Despite so many having to stand for the 44-minute journey season tickets go up by 4.18 per cent from January 2, to £3,388.
Transport minister Norman Baker, who commutes from Lewes in Sussex, demanded urgent improvements and warned: “I will be monitoring these services closely.”
