Kindest cut set little Womble free...
THIS little creature looks like he could be found wandering free on Wimbledon Common.
With his matted white fur he strikes a startling resemblance to a Womble – those fictional pointy-nosed characters from the hit BBC children’s TV show of the mid-70s.
But now the three-year-old Lhasa Apso, aptly named Womble, has shed more than a kilo of hair with a short back and sides that has transformed him into a very desirable pooch.
The picture of Womble on the day he was found last week shows his horrific state, with the only sign of his face being a tiny tongue poking out.
Having been heartlessly dumped in a Leeds park, the distressed dog was discovered by a walker who contacted the city’s Dogs Trust charity.
But staff were shocked by Womble’s condition and when they took a closer look they found a chocolate sweet and Velcro stuck in his fur.
Amanda Sands, manager at Dogs Trust Leeds, said: “It’s astounding a dog can be left to get into this condition, and then abandoned.
“Fortunately a new owner has come forward to give Womble a new home. He is looking forward to years of regular grooming.”
Womble has clearly seen the last of his bad hair days.
