£200,000 Christa Ackroyd is out of the BBC
BRITAIN’S highest paid regional TV presenter left her job yesterday after four months on “gardening leave” during which she earned over £50,000.
The BBC was tight-lipped last night over whether the Look North presenter Christa Ackroyd, 56, received a pay-off on top of her £200,000 salary.
She allegedly stormed out of a meeting with executives in March, vowing: “I’ll be back.”
It is believed her dispute is over her freelance contract and tax payments.
A BBC statement announced her immediate departure and wished her “the best”.
Tory MP Philip Davies, a member of the Commons’ culture, media and sport committee, called the situation a “farce” and said the BBC has a public duty to account for her departure.
