Couples lose passion after just one year
IT’S sorry news for romantics, but relationships start to lose their spark after just one year
Researchers found that in the first 12-month “honeymoon” period of a relationship, 15 per cent of couples make love every day.
But within fours years more than half (53 per cent) admit that action in the bedroom takes place only a few times a week.
And beyond that point, it dwindles to just a few times a month for 43 per cent of couples.
For those who stay together for 15 years or more, 15 per cent have sex no more than a few times a year.
Overall, Britain’s bedroom antics leave a lot to be desired with 40 per cent describing their sex life as just “okay” or “could be better”.
About three-quarters (76 per cent) admit they could perhaps try better between the sheets.
When asked how they might spice things up in the bedroom, a disappointing 17 per cent could only suggest “turning off the light”. Nearly a third (30 per cent) confessed that at times they have problems “getting in the mood”.
Dr Tom Brett, for the Lloydspharmacy Online Doctor survey, said: “It seems Britons have a lot to learn when it comes to enhancing their sex lives.
“But sometimes not being ‘in the mood’ isn’t just about being tired, stressed or even fancying your partner. Get yourself checked out by a medical professional to improve your performance.”
