Manchester Airport chaos after delays hit holidaymakers following technical glitch
FLIGHTS arriving and departing from Manchester Airport have been “significantly” reduced because of a technical fault.
Flights arriving to and departing from the airport are delayed
It is currently experiencing delays following the issue with its Electronic Flight Progress Strip System – which allows controllers to monitor the safe movement of planes around the airport.
But a spokeswoman was unable to confirm how many flights or how many passengers have been affected since the problem began at around 7pm.
Manchester Airport is Britain’s third largest, handling more than 22 million passengers a year.
In a statement released last night, the airport said: "Due to a technical issue with our Electronic Flight Progress Strip System we are experiencing some minor delays for both arriving and departing aircraft.
Due to a technical issue we've had to reduce arrivals & departures. Pls visit our website for info about the situation & status of flights
