Jailed: High-flier who MURDERED wife and STOLE £260k from father-in-law gets life
A HIGH-flying computer programmer has been jailed for life with a minimum term of 15 years after admitting the murder of his wife.
Stuart Andrews strangled his wife Caroline during a row over debt
Plagued by debt, Stuart Andrews, 54, snapped when 52-year-old Caroline taunted him as a “failure” and throttled her at their rented bungalow.
The father of four of Benenden, Kent, then fled to a London hotel where he tried to commit suicide the next day.
He was found covered in blood with multiple knife wounds after calling reception for an ambulance. He was arrested in hospital.
Andrews was jailed for life with a minimum of 15 years
At Maidstone Crown Court, Oxford-educated Andrews admitted murder and the theft of £267,096 from his dementia-victim father-in-law who he had power of attorney over.
Sentencing him, Judge Jeremy Carey said: “By your own accounts, you did indeed snap, you struck your wife, which you should never have done.
Caroline died at the couples home in Kent
“But rather than coming to your senses, you compounded your very serious actions by seizing her round her throat and, in what must have been a sustained attack... you murdered her.
“You left her dead in your bedroom, a place where she was entitled to feel safe from harm, safe with the protection of her husband.”
