Ditzy A-list celebrities sign up for FAR-RIGHT party by MISTAKE
A HOST of A-list celebrities including Hollywood actresses and international sports stars have accidentally signed up to a far-right wing party which opposes abortion and same sex marriages.
Kaley Cuoco accidentally joined The American Independent Party
Silver-screen actresses Demi Moore and Emma Stone are among thousands of people who have mistakenly joined The American Independent Party (AIP).
Also among the stars on the list are television’s hit Big Bang Theory star Kaley Cuoco, who plays Penny, and former boxer Sugar Ray Leonard.
Some of the policies the party advocates is building a fence around the United States border, banning abortion and opposing same-sex marriages.
But it seems members, of which there are over half a million registered, may have been confused as to what they were signing up to.
Judges rule celebrity injunction can be lifted
A poll of 500 Californian members revealed nearly three quarters did not even realise they had joined the party.
And some voters were misled but the term 'independent', with many believing that they were in fact declaring they had no party affiliation on their voter registration form.
Emma Stone was also on the list of celebs who joined AIP
Their mistake could prove more damaging than initially thought, as any voter linked to the AIP will only be able to vote for the candidates on the party's ballot.
This could prove disastrous in the upcoming US presidential primary elections being held in The Golden State on June 7 which decides the candidates for the Democrats and Republicans.
The views of this party do not accurately reflect my personal beliefs
After the blunder was revealed, a slew of celebrities have confirmed they will be amending their registration forms.
Remi Moore's name was on the list but she called it a mistake
Kaley Cuoco said: "The views of this party do not accurately reflect my personal beliefs and I am not affiliated with any political party.
"As such, I am taking the necessary steps to immediately remove my name as a member of this voting party."
Former boxer Sugar Ray Leonard says he plans to re-register
Emma Stone and Sugar Ray stated they plan to re-register before the upcoming election.
Demi Moore, who previously campaigned for President Barack Obama, claimed she had never been a member of the party and any record saying otherwise was a "mistake".
