London Marathon runner collapses after cardiac arrest 3 miles from finish
SPECTATORS of the London Marathon watched in horror as a runner collapsed just three miles from the end of the race.
The runner collapsed in the City of London today
The athlete suffered a cardiac arrest at Upper Thames Street, near Southwark Bridge - at the 23 mile mark.
Paramedics rushed to the scene and the patient was taken to St Thomas Hospital for treatment.
London Ambulance Service confirmed it did attend the incident.
A photo on Twitter shows a number of emergency staff in a cordoned off area.
The runner's health status is not currently known.
