London bloodbath: Greenford probe as man found dead outside Tube station
LONDON'S bloodbath continues as a man was found dead after being involved in a fight outside a Tube station of one of the city's busiest Underground lines, triggering a police investigation.
The victim, in his 30s, was pronounced dead at the scene after suffering serious head injuries outside Greenford Underground station, North West London, at around 1.45am.
A second man also taken to hospital with suspected head injuries.
The identities of the men are still unknown.
The Met Police said they were currently treating the death as "unexplained".
A Met spokesman said: "Police were called to Oldfield Lane North outside Greenford Station at 01:46hrs on Saturday, 23 June following reports of a fight.
"Officers and London Ambulance Service attended and found two unresponsive men aged in their late thirties.
"The first man was pronounced dead at the scene. A post-mortem examination will be held in due course. Formal identification awaits.
"Police are in the process of informing his next-of-kin.
"The second man has been taken to hospital with a suspected head injury.
"We await an update on his condition.
"No arrests have been made.
"Enquiries into the full circumstances of the incident continue."
Oldfield Lane North is closed outside Greenford Station and the station is currently shut down, as a cordon is in place to allow police officers to carry out their analyses.
Transport for London (TfL) said: "The station is closed due to a police investigation outside the station area."
But TfL officials report a good service on the Central line.
Greenford is both a Central line Underground and National Rail station in Zone 4.
Following the stark rise of stabbings and crime in London, the city has for the first time in history overtaken the homicide rate of New York, which has the same population number.
