Nanny killer to appeal 30-year jail term
MURDERER Sabrina Kouider wants to appeal against the 30-year jail term handed down for killing her French nanny.
The 35-year old former partner of Boyzone founder Mark Walton tortured and murdered Sophie Lionnet, 21, with her boyfriend Ouissem Medouni in Wimbledon, south London, last September.
Both were convicted of murder and jailed for life.
But lawyers acting for Kouider plan to appeal against the 30-year tariff, which they say was too long for a woman with mental health issues.
She is being treated at the Bracton Centre, near Dartford, Kent.
Staff at the NHS hospital never refer to patients as inmates.
A neighbour of the hospital said: “It is more like a fourstar hotel than a prison. Patients get to wear their own clothes and they have lovely meals.”
A spokesman for Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust, which runs the centre, said: “The courts determine the sentence and if people are mentally ill, the Ministry of Justice determines where they are treated.
“The Bracton Centre is a hospital unit for assessment, treatment and rehabilitation in a secure setting and has the facilities required to do this.”
