UK hot weather maps show exact date of 20C scorcher as far north as Scottish Highlands
Scottish Highlands will witness scorching 20C temperatures, according to the latest UK hot weather maps.
Britain will get a respite from the wet and windy weather as the latest maps show the exact date when parts of the country will bake under sizzling 20C.
The weather maps from WXCharts and Netweather suggest high temperatures will reach even the country's northern parts with the Scottish highlands witnessing sizzling temperatures in the comingdays.
WXCharts maps have turned red indicating the possibility of dry and warm conditions in the middle of the month, with the hottest day tipped for May 14.
Areas around Wick on Scotland's northern coastline will witness scorching 20C as the maps show some relief from the strong gusts in the days leading up to it.
On the other hand, areas such as Manchester, Birmingham, London, Plymouth and Southhampton will see the mercury rise to around 17 to 18C.
BBC weather forecaster Louis Lear said: “April 2024 has been pretty disappointing but hopefully we are going to be able to close out the month on something a little promising. It is certainly going to be a warmer story over the next few days, with some sunshine around. There will still be some rain at times, the winds not quite as strong but a notable breeze.”
The settled weather conditions will come days after the Met Office issued weather warnings for thunderstorms covering large parts of UK including London, Brighton and Cardiff.
On Wednesday, the forecaster said that heavy rain is expected, with a chance of thunderstorms, in Wales and large parts of southwest England between 8pm tonight and 8am tomorrow.
Thunderstorms are likely later this evening and overnight in London, Brighton, Oxford and other areas covered by the second warning, which comes into effect at 11pm tonight and lasts until 6am tomorrow.

The Met Office’s long-range forecast between May 16 and 30 suggests drier weather conditions in the northern areas of the country.
It reads: “During the longer range outlook period, there is a greater chance of unsettled weather returning, especially across the south.
“This means that spells of wet weather are likely for most, notably across southern or central areas, while drier conditions on balance are more likely further north.
“There are no strong signs for any exceptional temperatures either above or below average, but warm days are possible as are some chilly nights.”
This Evening and Tonight:
Rain, some heavy and thundery will affect southern England and Wales. Northern Ireland will also have patchy rain for a time. Elsewhere it looks mostly dry with clear spells. Low cloud and fog patches, especially in the north and east.
