Parts of UK could see temperatures rise as high as 27C coming days as a heatwave looms, new weather maps suggest.
Maps from the Met Office show the mercury soaring to the mid 20s in various cities in the south by Tuesday June 25, as Britain's summer finally gets into gear.
The cities and towns that are set for highs of 25 are Basingstoke, Guilford, Crawley, Newbury, Tenterden, Brighton, Chichester and Chelmsford, according to the Met Office's latest forecast.
The office shows temperatures peaking at around 4pm with London seeing the hottest temps in the country with 27C.
It comes as almost all of England has been put on alert for soaring temperatures expected in the coming days.
An Iberian plume via Europe is expected to send the mercury into the mid-to-high 20C zone, forecasters have said.
The Met Office coupled with the UK Health Standards Agency release alerts each summer to flag how the weather could the healthcare sector, including care homes and risk to people aged 65 and over.
People with conditions that can be exacerbated by the heat are also included in the warnings.
The yellow alerts currently in effect, indicating potential and probable impacts, stretch from Monday, June 24 to Thursday, June 28.
These may be subject to change - and could also be shortened due to the risk of thunderstorms, the forecaster said.
According to GFS weather maps for next week, temperatures could peak at 29C in Greater London by midday on Wednesday.

"There is potential for significant impacts to be observed across the health and social care sector due to the high temperatures, including: observed increase in mortality across the population likely, particularly in the 65 plus age group or those with health conditions," the alert reads.
"But impacts may also be seen in younger age groups with increased demand for remote health care services likely. Internal temperatures in care settings (hospitals and care homes) may also exceed recommended threshold for clinical risk assessment."
It also outlines a risk to vulnerable people living independently and in care settings. Also known as a hot weather response, the regions covered include:
- North West
- Yorkshire and The Humber
- East Midlands
- West Midlands
- East of England
- London
- South East
- South West
Despite the north east being included in the alert, it's been placed in the green category rather than the yellow. This indicates lesser impacts are expected.
The statement says: "Minor impacts are possible
In terms of what to expect, the Met Office says there will be a "warming trend" emerging with humid air extending from the south by next Monday.
