A man has shared snaps of a bizarre discovery he made in some woods, which prompted his other half to categorically declare he couldn't keep it.

Taking to Reddit, he uploaded photos of what appeared to be a 'blood-stained' voodoo doll, sitting at the foot of a tree. "I wanted to take him home. She said no way, Jose," the man penned in the r/weird subreddit.

He elaborated: "Made a pit stop in the Rocky Mountains and took a walk about. Wasn't expecting to get cursed. He was covered with red wax, had some damage, the one 'foot' was also singed. Seemed 'fresh' in that it hadn't been there long."

A 'voodoo doll' usually refers to a small effigy used in dark magic spells to inflict injury and harm on the person it is intended to represent.

"Someone's spell," wrote another Reddit user. "It's not for you but I would also just leave that energy there."

"Best not interfere with spells in progress," agreed another. "Nothing to see here, move along. If you find stuff like this in the woods, no you didnt. Dont touch it and keep walking."

A third added: "I don’t understand what would possess someone to even consider taking something like this home." While a fourth said: "She is smarter than you but you already touched [it, so] may as well take it. Superstitious wise I think you are already screwed."

Others were much less concerned, however, telling the man he should have ignored his wife's advice. "That would have come home with me regardless and if my husband spouted some bs about it being creepy, oh well," one woman wrote. "I’ll keep it in the closet or something but I’m keeping it, and you’re being weirdly unreasonable about a cloth doll."

A second person concurred: "You should've took him home and had some fun with him maybe clean him up set him up as a chew toy or pin cushion or even kept as is as a conversation piece."

And a third reassured: "The doll can't do anything to you. It has no power on its own. It's not you that the curse was intended for."
