If you're someone who thrives on a challenge, the UK's longest and wildest hedge maze is waiting for you to test your wits.

Located just outside of Bristol in Wraxall, North Somerset, Noah’s Ark Zoo Farm which is home to over 100 different species, also holds the title of having one the longest hedge mazes in the country.

Known as The Great British Wildlife Maze, this maze stretches over 2.1 miles, challenging participants to navigate its intricate twists and turns without getting lost.

The hedge maze is the longest and wildest of its kind in the UK.

Originally constructed from over 15,000 British Beech trees that were hand planted by the zoo team in 2003, the maze has grown from small 2ft high saplings to mature hedges over 5ft high.

Relaunching the 3.4km hedge maze in 2021, a unique bird’s nest tower can be found at its centre to celebrate British wildlife.

Noah’s Ark Zoo’s managing director Larry Bush said: “We wanted to celebrate our amazing British wildlife for all to enjoy.

"The amazing nest tower with a slide at the centre of the hedge maze, along with new British wildlife themed questions, provide a really fun and engaging space for families to enjoy as part of a day out at the zoo this summer.

“Our hedge maze aims to educate and inspire its explorers about the wonders of the biodiversity here in the UK and helps to raise awareness of British wildlife habitats.”

Two new timber structures have also been added to the hedge maze as part of the relaunch.

With an interactive trail and new revamped wildlife questions and clues to support children (and adults) along the way, maze explorers can navigate the maze, climb the brand-new nest tower, with scenic views over the zoo, and finish with a slide back down. Seven of Noah’s animals can be spotted en route.

The time it takes to reach the centre varies widely; while Noah’s Ark Zoo have not outlined a specific time limit for visitors to complete the maze in, some visitors recommended on TripAdvisor to “allow plenty of time” as numerous people reported getting lost.

They also encouraged bringing a pair of wellies if it's forecasted to rain upon your visit to the farm — it’s been revealed that the maze is all the trickier when it becomes muddy after rainfall.

The maze is included in the general admission ticket for Noah's Ark Zoo and tickets start at £26.40 for adults and £22.00 for children aged 2 to 15 years.

So, if you’re ready to put your problem-solving skills to the ultimate test, head to Noah’s Ark Zoo in Wraxall and see if you have what it takes to conquer the UK’s longest maze.
