Fans of Grumpy Cat line the streets to see the feline at her very own book signing
SHE'S an internet sensation, but now Grumpy Cat can officially call herself a celebrity judging by the turn out to her book signing yesterday.
The moody-looking feline was at Barnes and Noble at The Grove in Los Angeles yesterday, where she was greeted by hoards of fans who just couldn't wait to meet her.
Looking as grumpy as ever, she sat beside copies of her book while her owner Tabatha Bundesen smiled for the cameras.
The two-year-old cat, whose real name is Tardar Sauce, sat on a brown velvet cushion and frowned at the cameras as children queued up to have their photo taken with her.
The less-than-impressed-looking snowshoe puss became an online legend after her owner’s brother uploaded a picture on user-generated news site Reddit, where the image was incredibly upvoted more than 25,300 times within 48 hours.
Now, fans of the pet have documented the feline's fury by creating Photoshopped parodies of the sourpuss, with many hilarious results having been unleashed by a new meme frenzy online.
However, Tard’s owner Tabatha once told Fox News that the misunderstood feline is less miserable than she looks, saying it's just how her face is.
She said Tard, who's famous features have now even spawned a t-shirt with her face on it, has "what looks kind of like an under bite.
Considering her brother Pokey is equally sulky-looking, Tard is arguably less judgmental than she seems – with her features seemingly just being a result of unfortunate genetics.
Speaking about Tard's features when she was born Tabatha said: "She looked unique, as did her brother, at birth, with a flat face, bubble eyes, and a short tail.
"Tardar is not as coordinated as a normal cat, so she is likely a little angry about that," Tabatha also told Fox.
"I think she likes to be held and petted some times, but being the pet of a 10-year-old could make anyone grumpy."
