Woman calms thief with cup of tea
A JAPANESE woman and her baby escaped unhurt when a knife-wielding thief forced his way into their home and was calmed down with a cup of tea.
The 30-year-old housewife was in the corridor of her Tokyo apartment with her six-month-old daughter when a man brandishing a blade told her to hand over her money.
In a bid to placate the thief, who then barged into her apartment, the woman made him a cup of tea and offered him a sympathetic ear.
The thief then put his knife away and began a 20-minute monologue about his life.
The woman eventually handed over the equivalent of £47 and, once he had left, proceeded to call the police.
