Flash flood kills 15 in Indonesia
Flash floods have swept away dozens of people in a remote Indonesian mountain village, leaving 15 dead and 25 missing, officials said.
Search and rescue teams were deployed to the Madina district of North Sumatra, about 780 miles north-west of the capital, Jakarta, said provincial spokesman Edi Syofian.
Hundreds of people have fled their homes.
Medical supplies, food and tents were being delivered to the area, which is several hours by road from the nearest town, said Health Ministry Crisis Centre chief Rustam Pakaya.
Seasonal downpours cause annual flash flooding in Indonesia, a vast archipelago of 17,000 islands where millions of people live in mountainous areas or near fertile flood plains.
