Backpacker in cash row
BRITISH backpacker Jamie Neale has caused outrage in Australia by giving rescuers just a fraction of the £106,000 he made selling his story.
The 19-year-old, who went missing for 12 days in the outback in July, has donated £797 to a volunteer service. But it cost taxpayers more than £53,000 to fund the hunt for him.
However, Mr Neale insists he has donated more than £8,500 in total to various agencies.
