Jay Slater search: Inside 'dangerous' Tenerife area where teen is believed to be missing
The disappearance of Jay Slater remains shrouded in mystery as the search for the British teenager in Tenerife enters its second week.
Tucked away in the mountainous landscape of northwest Tenerife, sits the ‘lost’ village of Masca. Sitting precariously atop a mountain ridge the tiny village is home to just 90 residents and is surrounded by breathtaking cliffs.
The tiny hamlet is off the beaten track - there's only one winding, steep road that runs extremely close to the towering cliffs.
Despite its charming appeal Masca has been plagued by the disappearance of British teenager Jay Slater and has been labelled as "dangerous".
The 19-year-old's last known whereabouts were determined by his phone signal, which was traced to a vast mountainous region about half a mile north of Masca.
Rescue parties continue to scour the Spanish island in a bid to find the 19-year-old who had attended the NRG music rave on June 16 with two friends before his disappearance.

Jay is believed to have journeyed to a secluded holiday let, named Casa Abuela Tina, located just outside the village of Masca.
The holiday cottage is situated midway up a mountain, just outside of Masca. It takes around an hour to get to the popular resort of Los Cristianos - where Jay and his friends were staying in a booked apartment.
The following day, June 17, he reportedly ventured alone into the mountains. Jay's phone's last live location was Rural de Teno Park. Movements after around 8.30am on Monday remain a mystery.
There are only two restaurants within reasonable walking distance of Casa Abuela Tina, and one bus stop that has services running between every 60 and 90 minutes, and only to Santiago del Teide and Lomo de Masca.
While Tenerife is known for its all-inclusive resorts and hotels, the Casa Abuela Tina is easily missed - with only three other hotels within a four-mile radius of Masra.

There are little footpaths or signed routes in the surrounding area for those who may be on foot, and taxis to and from the rental from other popular destinations would be extremely costly.
Travelling down into the heart of Masca would take only 15 minutes downhill. However, he reportedly trudged uphill on a road flanked by concrete barriers designed to prevent vehicles from careening over the edge with the next significant village - Las Portelas - being around two hours away on foot.
The search for Jay has now entered its second week, the Civil Guard, mountain rescue teams and fire crews are continuing in their efforts in a desperate bid to find him.
