Six die in US apartment block fire
An apartment fire in Illinois has left six people dead, including three children, and a dozen others injured.
Aurora public information officer Dan Ferrelli said the fire started at about 4am on Sunday in a three-storey building where at least 35 people live.
He said three people were pronounced dead at hospitals - an adult male, a boy estimated at five to seven years old and an infant.
Mr Ferrelli said three others were pronounced dead at the scene. They were a boy about 10 years old and two women, probably in their 30s.
He said a dozen others were taken to hospitals. Two of them were treated and released.
Fire officials are investigating the cause of the blaze.
Aurora is about 40 miles west of Chicago.
