Eiffel Tower to get £135m makeover
The Eiffel Tower in Paris, which sees nearly seven million visitors per year, is setting out to make their experience a happier one.
Its directors have unveiled a 170 million euro (£135 million), 10-year makeover plan that aims to upgrade the monument for the 21st century.
The plan includes improved access for disabled visitors, a redesign of elevator hydraulic systems designed in the 19th century and a new system allowing tourists to order tickets online.
It's also aimed at drawing in more Parisian visitors, since most people who come to the tower are foreigners.
The Eiffel Tower was designed by Gustave Eiffel for the 1889 World's Fair, and was meant as a temporary exhibit.
