16 killed as bus and truck collide
Sixteen people have been killed after a bus carrying school teachers collided head-on with an empty fuel tanker in western Brazil.
Highway police spokeswoman Marcia Felix says the vehicles caught fire and exploded minutes after the collision.
Felix said 14 teachers and the two drivers "burned alive", while 13 teachers managed to scramble out of the bus before it burst into flames. Many are hospitalised.
The bus was taking the teachers to a seminar in the state of Rondonia.
The cause of the accident is being investigated.
Officials said it was the fuel in the vehicles' tanks that caught fire.
